Midi Jam info
MIDIJam is a program that visualizes MIDI files as they are played. Eventually I hope to support all the instruments. This is a page detailing what I have included this far, and what is still yet to come. As you can see, a lot is visually shown now, and there is a lot more yet to be done. I will probably try and do the percussion stuff and more "visualized but not simulated" instruments, where a representation of something playing the notes shows up, and hopefully it shows a different reaction for each note of the scale A through G plus sharps and flats, but doesn't show seperate octaves or accurate fingering. |

1.06 added Accordion and Tango Accordion (same as regular Accordion for now)
1.07 Reorganized the instruments table to see more instruments on a page added Pizzicato Strings, Tubular Bells, Tinkle Bells, Taiko Drums, Music Box, Melodic Tom, Synthesized Drum, and the Steel Drums
1.08 added the Ocarina
1.09 added or modified the following instruments: Harmonica, Pan Flute, Whistle, Caliope, Bowed, FX Crystal, Agogo, Wood Block, Blown Bottle
1.10 added or modified the following instruments: Violin, Fiddle, Viola, Cello, Double Bass (Contrabass), and Acoustic Bass
1.11 added Recorder, Long and Short Whistle percussion and the following utilities: MidiList.exe - an EXE you can drop any MIDI file on, to see what instruments are used in it. It also has some search capabilities that were later incorporated into MidiSearch, see below. MidiSearch.exe - an EXE you can run to search the current directory and all subdirectories for MIDI files. After it comes up just click the "Search for Songs" button and it will look through all found MIDI files for their instruments. Then you can click on the instruments to the left to limit the list on the right based on your select instrument(s). If you click the Launch button, and this EXE is in the same place as MIDIJam, it will automatically launch the selected song in MIDIJam. Down at the bottom is a "Browse for EXE" button, you can use this to select any MIDI player you want the app to send MIDI files to with the Launch button. 1.12 added Flute, Piccolo, Triangle, Muted Triangle, Metronome 1 and 2, Sticks, Square, Jingle Bell, Telephone Ring, Shaker, Castanets, and High Q Along with fixing several instruments that could ghost image when a note was too close to another Allowed a few percussion instruments to cue up more hits, so things like the Timpani can do rolls better Added some other GM percussion instruments to the list above (darn, I was almost done too!) MidiSearch has been improved and had some bug fixes in it that allow it to find more files |
